VIV teak furniture is built from premium, kiln-dried teak and treated with a protective finish to enhance longevity and reduce surface wear. While this finish helps stabilize the wood's surface, natural oil migration may still occur, especially in humid or wet conditions. 

 

Routine Maintenance

Clean with mild soap and water using a soft cloth or brush. Always move with the grain. Avoid pressure washers, abrasive tools, or harsh chemicals that may compromise the finish. Allow furniture to dry fully before covering or staging.

Natural Behavior of Finished Teak 

Even with a finish, teak retains its natural oils. During early outdoor exposure, surface leaking-the release of oils and tannins-can occur. This is a normal acclimation phase and may result in transfer to cushions or adjacent surfaces. 

 

Cushion Care 

To protect cushions from oil transfer:

Keep cushions off frames during early exposure or wet weather
Use breathable covers when not in use. Spot clean any marks promptly with mild soap and water.
